Parallel soundscapes workshop offers an opportunity to explore artistic practices with an emphasis on sound. The workshop will raise multiple points of inquiry, primarily; The role of soundscapes in how spaces are perceived as well as the role of interpretation of narrative within multiple dimensions of space.
The workshop will cover multiple different techniques and workflows spanning from generative audio, experimental sound capture, audio manipulation, spatial mixing, synthesis and sampling. Other than that, it will include listening exercises and discussions.
In this workshop participants will approach their project with the use of the medium of sound and have a deeper understanding of the relationship between sound and space. You will have the opportunity of getting artistic experience in open-minded surroundings with international participants from various backgrounds and skillsets.
The workshop will start from the 10th till the 21st of February ‘25 and the exhibition will take place on the 7th till the 10th of March ‘25.
The Workshop is limited to ten applicants and There is no prerequisite sound background needed.
Participants are required to bring their headphones and laptops to the workshop.

About the Instructor:
Omar elKammar, an Egyptian Berlin based artist, designer and educator. He is an interdisciplinary artist whose work encompasses sound, spatial and audio visual art and design. With interests in storytelling, performing, technology, the main drive behind his work is the question of the role of human computer interaction and the influence it has over the output of the work and the intention behind the work.
Next to art/design work and education. elKammar is a musician, multi-instrumentalist, producer and sound engineer.
